Glucomannan to support weight loss – Jenny Logan DNMed

In my last blog post I had a look at the 5:2 diet – a program I suggest to many of my clients who are looking for a safe and effective way to lose weight. When following the 5:2 diet you eat normally for 5 days of the week. However – for the other 2 days you restrict your calories, for women you restrict to 500 and for men 600.

Whilst this diet can be incredibly successful and you don’t even have to THINK about being on a diet for 5 days of the week, there are a number of people that find those two low-calorie or ‘fasting’ days very difficult to manage. Which is why there has been a great deal of interest in a product called Glucomannan.

June seems to have got off to its usual wet start! However, Summer is now clearly on the horizon and thoughts are starting to turn to the summer holidays. Working as a nutritional therapist, this then, is the time of year when most of my clients want to look at an effective way of losing weight and supplements which will support that. Are you getting enough Vitamin D?

The best way to get the vitamin D your body needs is through sunshine.  But often factors such as the amount of time we spend outside,  the clothes we wear, and simply the great British weather(!), can mean that the sun simply can’t provide what we need.

In the UK alone millions of children and adults suffer from vitamin D deficiency. A deficiency in this vital vitamin can cause problems with bone strength and development, muscle strength and low mood. The Department of Health recommends that all adults and children should consider taking a vitamin D supplement.
